Willy West’s self-checkout stations are open and are now accounting for about 25% of the store’s transactions. The stations are designed for use by customers who have 10 or fewer items, and we have a staff member available to help out with questions or problems. Even those not choosing to use these stations are benefiting, since lines at the registers with cashiers are shorter! Below is a list of what the self-checkout systems currently can and can’t handle; we are continuing to work on the things on the “can’t” list.

You can:

  • Enter your Owner number to apply any Owner-only sale pricing.
  • Use cash, FoodShare/QUEST cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Willy Street Co-op gift cards.
  • Scan most products with a barcode.
  • Use an easy product lookup tool to purchase products without a barcode (such as bulk apples, carrots, or mushrooms).
  • Use most coupons. (Coupon discounts will not always display on screen. If you need assistance, please ask!)
  • Purchase alcohol (staff will check ID if needed).
  • Purchase bulk nut butters.
  • Use Double Dollar vouchers (with staff assistance).
  • Tare containers for hot bar, soup, or olive bar.
  • Give directions in Spanish.

You can’t:

  • Use a check.
  • Purchase a gift card.
  • Use your patronage refund store credit (if you have one).
  • Purchase bulk items in larger containers you brought from home (for example, in Ball jars, Mason jars, etc.).
  • Use Bike Benefits.
  • Chip (we are still working to include this option).
  • Purchase liquid bulk items.
  • Purchase dry bulk items in hard plastic containers.
  • Purchase bulk items from our Wellness department.
