Pets are a part of the family, and they deserve freshly baked treats, too. These simple peanut butter treats are quick and easy to make. Be sure to check ingredients when cooking for dogs — any food that contains xylitol is toxic to dogs.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup creamy unsweetened peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup whole wheat flour, plus more for shaping
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the peanut butter and eggs and mix with a wooden spoon until smooth. Beat in the water, then stir in the flour.
- Lightly flour the counter and scrape the dough onto the flour. Pat the dough into a rough square, then use a rolling pin to roll out to a 10-inch-by-10-inch square about ¼ inch thick.
- Use a cookie cutter or a knife to cut the dough into 1½-inch squares. Transfer to the prepared pan.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, until dry on top and lightly browned.
- Cool on a rack before transferring to an air-tight container or zipper-top bag. Store up to one week at room temp or one month in the refrigerator.
Serving Suggestion
Use dog bone shaped cookie cutters to make these into fun shapes.
